Although Community of the Streets Outreach met with challenges and transitions in 2005, we remain strong, particularly in terms of our accomplishments and numbers of individuals we served.  We realized an 11% increase in Direct Assistance services and a 4% increase in health services in 2005 versus the previous year.

The Direct Assistance and Health Services programs encompass the following services:

· Texas Identification/Birth Certificate

· Hygiene and Food Packs

· Clothing

· Case Management

· Substance Abuse Screening and Referrals

· Voicemail/Telephone usage

· Transportation Assistance

· Furniture/Household Items

· Referrals to other Social Services Agencies

· Well Woman and Baby exams

· General Physicals

· Mental Health

· Immunizations

· STD Screenings

· Eye Exams and Glasses

As the needs of the homeless continue to grow and evolve, we remain vigilant in addressing the escalating barriers that contribute to homelessness and respond with the expansion or initiation of new services to meet these demands such as the Community-To-Work program. We are helping the homeless re-enter the workforce through the Community-To-Work program by collaborating with a number of community organizations.  Eligible participants receive training, guidance, and an opportunity with one of the participating corporations.

Community of the Streets Outreach through its partnership with the unique ministry of Lord of the Streets Episcopal Church is reaching out and assisting our homeless neighbors in overcoming their difficult plight.
